1. After logging in, select “Vessel Info/History” from the VMS pull-down menu found in the main menu bar.
2. Locate the vessel that you would like to associate user(s) to.
3. Click on the + next to the vessel name in order to expand the vessel-specific functions.
4. Click on “Permissions”
5. Click edit in the top right corner.
6. Click on the appropriate permissions boxes according to the selected user’s VMS functions(s). Note: Only the “View” or “Tasks” permission boxes need be selected for use of the VMS Client as a vessel crew member; refer to the following page for a description of each of these permission boxes.
7. Click “Add” to save the selected settings.
NOTE: In the event that Permissions need to be modified for an individual, follow the procedure exactly as above.
Currently the process of associating personnel with vessels is a one-by-one process. If it is necessary to associate a large number of personnel with a vessel, send the list of individuals to randi.pedigo@enterprise-sa.com for assistance.
Permission Box Descriptions
Tasks:By checking this box, vessel tasks such as ISM Checklist inspections, hour reading data collection requests and master’s DR assignments/approval requests. This permission box also activates a crew member’s access to the VMS Client (boat application) for that vessel.
View:Checking this box, similar to activating “Tasks”, also activates VMS Client user access on the vessel. Having “View” access to the system also gives a VMS Shoreside web user read only access.
Edit:Checking the “Edit” box allows the affected shoreside user the ability to modify and add records within the VMS Shoreside application e.g. Maintenance Logs, Machinery/Component Hours, Deficiency Reports, Task Handling, etc.
Change:When this box is checked, the user has the ability to modify permissions for users with need to access a specific vessel’s information.
Notify:When this box is checked, notifications relative to component/machine hours are sent as these hours exceed warning and critical thresholds.
NOTE: It is recommended that at least one administrative user have “Change” permission for all vessels in order to have unrestricted ability to affect to the permissions of other VMS users as needed.
