Introduction
The VMS MR Editor allows administrative users to view, modify and control revisions/versions of company-wide maintenance routines (MR’s). These MR’s are managed using the online version of the VMS.
When a MR is modified by an administrator (user who has been given sufficient access privilege to view and modify MR data), the document is flagged to be approved. Once the MR has been approved, in order to advance the MR to the vessel the user must run the vessel maintenance task wizard (VMTW). Once the VMTW is run, the revised MR is deployed to all vessels within the company. The VMS Client application on each vessel receives the updated version of the MR during the resynchronization process. Once the new MR is received by the VMS Client, this new version replaces the old ISM Checklist both for reference and, more importantly, recurring vessel inspections.
Of particular note, the MR Editor essentially governs the frequency and content of ISM required inspections. The MR Editor also governs the class of vessel that any given MR belongs to. When a vessel is added, with vessel class identified, the correct MR’s are automatically associated with the vessel.
